May celebration

This evening we were looking at some pictures from last year, and I figured it was about time I posted a couple of pictures from May 17 before these pictures also become last year’s memories. Even though it was a cold and windy day, we managed to have a good time with family and friends. A big thanks to aunt M who let me use her national costume so the whole family could match. I really apreciate that!

Talking about old pictures… A while ago I found a picture of E with long blond hair, mullet style. Anybody interested in me posting that picture?

Good weekend

Frida and I had a good weekend. She spent the night at her grandparents on Friday, which freed up time for me to go to the gym – for the first time in half a year!! At the very cold and wintry May Day we spent a couple of hours (inside!) at our regular coffee shop, with Frida’s grandparents, my cousin, her husband and their two kids. Today we had a play date with three of Frida’s little friends.

Frida sitting in Edvin’s walker wagon. She really had to fight to keep her toys today!

Peeking out from the stairs leading up to the slide at the playground. All the kids loved the slide.

Thanks to Edvin and his mom for having us over! As you can see, the moms also enjoyed the slide ;)

PS! Tomorrow daddy returns from his business travel. I’m not sure if I’m more excited to see him or the iPad that he WON!!!

Mini size national costume

With contributions from a large part of our family, Frida is ready for a festive May month (including the Norwegian national day). The cell phone is of course part of the national costume.

Hello daddy!

Daddy’s away again, this time for two whole weeks. (Admittedly he stopped by for a couple of hours after a week, but he was dead tired and had to get ready for his next trip so it doesn’t really feel like it should count!) As usual I try to send him pictures almost every day. Nothing out of the ordinary, but things he would see if he were here with us. These are some of daddy’s pictures.

The most interesting object in the office is an old keyboard sitting on top of a computer case. Just the right height for a little girl!

Bathing is fun, even though the baby bathtub is definitely getting too small. We’re considering getting a real bathtub, but we might have to get something else before that. History shows that things take time in this house…

At the time, yogurt is the favorite food. Eating with a spoon is ok, but also boring, so sometimes a spoon is deliberately dropped on to the table and the yogurt eaten with the fingers.

Fast asleep

Sometimes the baby sleeps – here in the car.

Sometimes the dad sleeps… First 10 minutes under the table while playing with Frida.

Then about 15 minutes at the table while Frida was eating. This was the same day as sleeping under the table. Snoring loudly, waking up with a “was I sleeping”? Did anybody say OVERWORKED?!!

Spring upswing

Beautiful spring weather today! Frida had a play date with two friends from kindergarten at a playground about half an hour walk from where we live. The sun, the swings, the slides, the other kids, and everything else that was going on must have worn her out because she fell asleep on our way home. She just got really quiet, hiding behind her sunglasses…

One of her friends was kind enough to share her orange with Frida.

Playground rebound

Frida enjoyed our little excursion to the neighborhood playground last weekend, and I hope we’ll return this weekend. Frida enjoyed the slide, and got more excited each time.

Frida has always enjoyed the swing. The difference from last year is that she can now sit, the smile is equal!

Easter for me is family, skiing, oranges, hot chocolate, the sun in the sky, white snow… I’m happy that Frida enjoys being outside and doesn’t complain about having to put on two layers of wool, a winter overall, a pair of shoes, two hats, mittens – and even sunglasses!

Easter was not just spent outdoors in great weather, we were also inside Frida’s grandparents’ cottage. Frida enjoyed the traditional easter mystery novel. Not as much reading it, but drawing. Thanks to grandpa who donated a few pages!

We enjoyed long breakfasts in good company.

Frida enjoyed sitting on someone else’s lap more than her own chair. Aunt M and grandma were very helpful, letting us parents eat without a one-year-old in our lap.

Big smiles

This Easter we spent three days at Nerskogen with two of Frida’s grandparents, her aunt , uncle, the uncle’s mom, and Frida’s cousin Nanok, the giant dog. Even though snow was fun, we’re happy spring is here – the sun is warming and the snow is melting! Be aware of reappearing dog poop, though, I fell in some yesterday…

Rocking rabbit

Frida is using her rocking rabbit more and more. Yes, it’s a rocking rabbit, not a rocking horse. Apparently they were sold out all over town when Frida’s grandparents were looking for a Christmas present last year, so they ended up buying a rabbit at Kirsebærlunden (not much of a web page, but I like stopping by when I’m in town). I don’t mind the rabbit, though, I think it’s cute!
